Scott Lichtig graduated with Honors from Berkeley Law School ( Boalt Hall) in 1978, specializing in the defense of professionals for more than 30 years.  Areas of expertise include real estate agents/brokers; insurance agents/brokers; securities brokers and financial planners; insurance bad faith; as well as professionals connected with the entertainment industry, such as personal managers and agents. 

• Mr. Lichtig  has been affiliated with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP since its inception in 1979.  As Chair of the firm-wide Professional Liability department, his practice includes all aspects of Real Estate Errors and Omissions; Insurance Agent/Broker Errors and Omissions; Insurance Bad Faith; Securities Broker Malpractice; Errors and Omissions connected with all types of Financial Planners and Managers; Errors and Omissions connected with the Entertainment Industry, such as Personal Managers and Agents; as well as numerous other miscellaneous professionals connected with any aspect of business, financial institutions and/or insurance.  Mr. Lichtig specializes in complex tort litigation, including class action, insurance sales practices, securities fraud, real estate, and professional liability. 
• Mr. Lichtig also provides advice and representation with respect to professional liability standards and practices, as well as guidelines for healthy business practices and a sound professional environment.

ASSOCIATIONS

• Mr. Lichtig is an avid participant in numerous civic and community organizations and associations.  He is specifically involved in educating youth  about our governmental process and our Constitution.  He sits on the Board of the Constitutional Rights Foundation, in addition to many other Civic Boards.  Active in public service, Mr. Lichtig is a dedicated believer in educating our nation's youth to become active and responsible members of our society.

• Mr. Lichtig has authored numerous articles in the area of professional liability defense.  He has lectured before several legal and professional groups on a diverse range of topics, from professional liability defense, to ways to improve professional standards within the working environment.

LEGAL EXPERIENCE

• Mr. Lichtig has practiced for almost 30 years, focusing on the litigation of complex business and professional liability litigation matters.  His practice includes the representation of major insurance carriers, as well as their insureds, in the defense of complex errors and omission litigation.  He has represented clients in these areas in numerous State Court and Federal Court litigation, including the defense of class and derivative actions.  This broad experience, together with his consultation with many large insurance carriers and financial institutions, gives him an appreciation and expertise in professional liability defense which is unique.
